i’m watching this split-screen video of billie eilish answering the same interview questions at 15 and again at 16 and i just cannot express how great it is that after a year breaking into the music industry she’s gone from being perfectly made-up and styled to showing up for press day with visible acne and messy hair and an intimidating fuck-off spiked collar, and none of it feels market-tested or designed to make her more attractive, she is just being her authentic weird goth self and performing in front of 2011 bbc sherlock fanvideos and doing whatever the Hell she wants

I had a deaf friend in High School. Her father couldn’t sign. So if anyone doubts, this is true and it happens.
I had a student who was I believe she said 85% deaf, that she could hear a little. We were talking about my daughter who is learning ASL to talk to a friend of hers better and she said that was really good because her parents never took the time to try and learn. This is a woman in college who has been deaf since birth and neither of her parents could take the time to learn to talk to her.
