What to ask tarot

So tarot card questions are actually a lot different than asking a specific question. You wouldn’t say, for example, “Is my dad going to graduate?” because if you got the 3 of cups, you would be utterly confused as to why I did not provide a yes or a no. So below I am going to list questions that are good to ask the cards.

• I’m at a fork in the road. Which way should I go?

• How do I weigh out the choices I have? What are the Pros and Cons?

• What do I need to know to make the best decision? What do I need to know?

• What do I need to know about a situation with a family member?

• What do I need to know about my love life?

• What do I need to know about my career?

Moving forward

• How do I move forward in my career?

• How do I move forward in my relationship/ love life?

• What is coming forth in my life?

• Which foundation is the strongest to build on in my life?

* What should I do?

• What should/ shouldn’t I do about a situation with my job?

• What should/ shouldn’t I do about a situation with a friend or family member?

• How can I restore my hope for the future?

• What overall positives do I bring to my life?

• What positives do the people in my life provide me?

• Is there meaning in my life?

• Is there love in my life? Hidden Elements

• Are there things I am ignoring that are important?

• What am I not seeing?

• What is holding me back?

• Are there truths that I am denying?

• Are there things that I see that are untrue?

• What important things have I forgotten?

• What could get in my way?

• What is most important for me to get done?

• How will a certain occasion or event turn out?

• What will be the best way for me to communicate with certain people?

• What should I learn from my past?

• What is the impending future telling me?

• What cycles am I stuck in?

• What have a learned from my past?

• Where am I strongest?

• What should I look out for?

These are especially helpful for anyone that’s new to tarot. Interpretations can be tricky with direct and yes/no questions.

Here’s a thing I didn’t know when I started reading Tarot that I wish I did: the Rider-Waite-Smith deck is public domain, meaning if you’re buying a deck what you’re paying for is not the images but the materials they’re printed on. So unless it’s a fancy edition or an older/antique version, don’t pay a bunch for it! I bought my original Rider Waite for probably like $18 ten years ago and that’s WAY more than it’s worth considering it’s just generic plastic-coated cardstock and started peeling almost immediately.

It also means you are free to print out copies for yourself without worrying about breaking any copyright laws. Here’s a PDF version for the deck in color, 9 cards to a page in its current arrangement, so smaller than standard but not by much. Here’s a version that’s just the line art in case you don’t have access to color printing or want to color them in yourself.

My suggestion? Go get construction paper, or if you have a little extra money, go to Michael’s and get cardstock paper in a nice pattern or color. Then get either a regular glue stick or if you can afford the extra couple bucks, buy the Elmer’s Craft Bond Extra Strength Glue Stick (it’s like $3ish at Michael’s and is designed to not oversaturate paper and make it ripple). Then print, adhere the printer paper to the construct paper/cardstock, let dry and cut out. They may be a little difficult to ruffle shuffle but beyond that it will function the same as any other deck AND if you spill coffee on your spread it’s not the end of the world, just reprint the cards you stained.

ive seen a few different posts talking about wanting to get into tarot but deck prices being somewhat prohibitive so wanted to bring this back since it has the links to the PDFs and such in it. Tarot ought to be accessible, print your own deck and get started!

I used this spread just to help out figuring out a person. You can do so on yourself, too. I find that it provides a lot of insight.

  1. The Head – How they go about making decisions and choices/what drives them to make the choices they make.
  2. Shoulders – The burdens they carry or the burdens they have carried (will more than likely be two cards).
  3. Heart – The core of this person.
  4. What Crosses the Heart – What they’ve had to face/what challenges they’re going through.
  5. Spine – What supports this person/keeps them going.
  6. Hands – What this person is capable of (will more than likely be two cards).
  7. Groin – Desires and wants.
  8. Feet – What their future holds/The path they’re going down. (will more than likely be two cards).
  9. The Ground – This person’s foundation.
  10. This is basically outside influences on said person.
  11. How has the outside influences effected them.

Happy Divining!

Love this spread 💜

also would be fantastic for character creation!

Samhain will be here before you know it. Sometimes referred to as “The Witches New Year” it is, not only a time that’s believed to be when the veil between our world and the afterlife is at it’s thinnest, but also a time to reflect on the past year and look to the future.

Let this spread be a guide as you prepare yourself for the cold and dark months ahead.

This card represents all you’ve learned and experience this past year (since last Samhain). Let this be a reminder to you of how far you’ve come.

Will you have one? Is it important? What should you be focusing on in your relationship in the new year? These are all questions that this card can answer for you.

Card 3 :Your Future Work

This card will represent your career for the coming new year. Whether this be to help you figure out any doubts you have about a new career path or promotion, or if how you can better improve your current work ethic / attitude. Let this card help you figure out where you’re trying to head [in your career] in the new year.

Card 4 : Your Present

What are you still dealing with right now? This card will help you better understand where you’re at in this moment so that you’ll better understand how to get to where you want to be.

Card 5 : Your Future Self

Let this card be a guide for your coming new year. Allow it to represent where you need to be in the future, as far as self and self-love goes.

I made a super quick and simple tarot spread based on taking things “one day at a time”, for those of us who are feeling overwhelmed by a situation. This spread is designed to give fast advice on the day you’re reading for in a non-cluttered way. Hope this helps! I’d love to see people using this so feel free to tag me if you do! 🙂

Card One- Today’s Challenge: This card is basically self-explanatory. Pull a card to give you a hint about a problem or challenge you may face today.

Card Two- Solution to Problems that may Arise Today: This is the advice card. Pull a card to give you an idea of how to go about solving whatever comes up today. For example, pulling the Queen of Swords could indicate that you need to handle today’s issues with logic and controlled temper, and leave emotions out of it.
