Apparently, way back when King Charles II was in the throne, this one mistress of his named Nelly Gwynn was headed to his castle in a carriage, but there was this mob in the way that seemed to be yelling “Catholic whore!” at her. So, Nelly peeks her head out of the carriage, smiles, and says; “Pray, good people, be civil; I am the Protestant whore!” And literally won everyone over, proceeding to the castle with no other interruptions.
