all the young witches on tumblr don’t know how lucky they have it,

I dabbled in getting into witchcraft/wicca when I was in college,

and I vividly remember going to a magic store and asking the guy how I could cast spells when I lived in a dorm where all fire, candles, incense, etc was forbidden

and he straight up told me that I simply couldn’t successfully use magic until I moved out of the dorms and could use real fire,

that was honestly one of the big reasons witchcraft never took off for me, all the resources I had access to were pretty much like “You need these specific materials, and you have to use them this specific way, and you need to believe in these specific gods or you’re doing magic wrong” and I was like, “Well I dunno how to get that shit, I’m not moving anywhere just to cast a damn spell, and I’m too agnostic to really believe in gods so…I guess witchcraft isn’t for me”

and now I see everyone on here like making emoji spells and shit, promoting “secular witchcraft,”

and it just generally seems way more flexible and supportive and, you know, more fulfilling and enjoyable to participate in,

it’s nice to see

since we all witnessed sherlock holmes physically rescue john watson from being burned alive in a bonfire on this exact day two years ago i’m sure we can all agree the fifth of november is now about gay love

As a reminder to all my US followers: go out and vote tomorrow ffs. I’m not enthused about a lot of US politics but mitigating damage that can be done by the right is very important. So what you can to forestall this place becoming more dystopian than it already is.

Also, this blog’s stance is pretty clear that voting for republicans is an Evil act.
