Some guy today mentioned he was in a band to me and I watched him get visibly uncomfortable when I didn’t ask him anything about it. He kept trying to bring the conversation around to his band and I wasn’t budging.
POWER MOVE: Complete and utter disinterest in men’s obsession with their own mediocrity
The notes of this post are like
Women: wow that’s funny I should try that when a man won’t stop talking about himself!
Men: OP you’re a bitch and an asshole and a slut
@fullmetalfisting is absolutely right lmao
men, namely straight men but hell men of all sexualities are guilty of this, really be talking about themselves and expecting women and femme-aligned ppl to be gushing about their every detail and interests but don’t even be returning the same energy, (unless they’re trying to fuck/date lmao)
It’s absolutely true, but the moment women/femmes rebel against this convention they’re “being rude” or “bitches” lmao I mean there’s more nuance involved but it really be like that a lot
Traditionally feminine ppl are expected to be support systems for men. That’s why you be seeing tweets about women taking care of their boyfriends like they’re children etc. and you’ll hear women characters on tv complain abt “he never listens to me” because a lot of men really don’t be listening to women but women are expected to do that and beyond for men.
Women/Femmes get stereotyped as talking too much when they talk about themselves, is a butt of a joke, “my wife talks too much” “my wife nags” is a common joke/convention in the media but men are allowed to bask in themselves uncritically
Idk why that’s such a hard pill to swallow for ppl. I think it’s because it’s difficult to take a hard look at yourselves etc.
Also for all the pickmes in the comments lmao please work on your critical thinking and analysis skills, just because a post talks about men clearly refers to men as a social class(which has different power, histories, and connotations involved) not individual men or your individualistic and apparently idealistic experiences with men. Like good for you that all men you know are saints but women complaining about men usually comes from a larger context lmao
