seriously just don’t comment on people’s body sizes or how much they eat or don’t eat.
just trying to make a joke? don’t do it.
just trying to give them a compliment? don’t do it.
just trying to compare your own size or habits? don’t do it.
just trying to make small talk? don’t do it.
imo the one exception to this rule is if you have a friend or loved one who you think might be heading into dangerous (restrictive eating disorder) territory, and you want to share your concern thoughtfully, gently, and privately.
otherwise keep your jokes, compliments, comparisons, and thoughts on other people’s bodies and eating behaviors to yourself. especially with women – our bodies are not conversation pieces.
