sarkastically:

I get really exhausted by seeing posts where the impetus is basically about how people don’t care about x thing. And it’s. I don’t even think it’s true. Maybe people don’t post about x thing but they might not know or they might just be tired.

I’m tired. Aren’t you tired? Aren’t we all fucking tired? We live in an age where we can know so many things, so many terrible things, and I get empathy fatigue. I just can’t sometimes. I can’t.

Don’t blame people for this. Blame the media for not focusing on certain issues or problems. Blame society for turning a blind eye to victims that don’t fit their perfect criteria. Yes, post things about it. Yes, reblog vital, proven information. This is important.

But trying to make other people feel bad, normal people, for not hefting the emotional labor for something probably isn’t helping much. We’re inundated. And people have to take measures to not drown.

Compassion fatigue is a VERY REAL thing. Trust me. We are all trying our damndest to care wherever we can, to DO whatever we can, but burning out is HUMAN and NORMAL and OKAY. People need breaks, before the world breaks them. Don’t guilt people for reaching fatigue at different times than you do.
