september will be kind. september will be magical. september will bring the missing energy. september will be working towards our goals and self. september will be a month full of growth.
thinking about how the burning of the library of alexandria is remembered as the most prominent historical symbol of the destruction of knowledge…but that’s nothing compared to the thousands of entire languages killed in America and Australia by the colonialists…
To put an extremely fine point on this excellent paragraph: language is knowledge in non-literate cultures. This is why language reclamation is always at the top of the list for where to spend our limited resources in Native America.
The unfortunate thing about most popular queer discourse is that it actively constructs false ideologies as opponents. It necessitates the existence of a power structure parallel to homophobia/heterosexism–a monolithic gay hegemony. This is an incredibly harmful mythology. Popular queer discourse is invested in building misrepresentations of other LGBT theories, histories, & life experiences so that there is more to reject & push against. “Queer” is often conceptualized as a third/middle/diverted path that rails against both heterosexism *and* “homonormativity.” It often does this recklessly & without nuance, at the expense of other LGBT people.
This is why so many of us feel alienated by queer culture: it coercively erases & redefines our experiences. it reframes us as oppressors.
the mcelroys look like the least compatible people in the world based on just their appearances alone and it’s the funniest fucking thing to me
like, who knew that some elusive cool uncle who’s probably a trickster god sporting a hawaiian shirt, a goth cowboy who just stepped from a starbucks and is probably keeping the secrets of magic from the public, and an assistant regional manager for Staples who only owns clothes in beige are a) related and b) rule the Internet as reigning funnymen with a less-than-benevolent fist
